TESTING PRIOR TO ARRIVAL IN ANTIGUA
All guests must have a printed negative RT-PCR COVID-19 test, taken no more than 7 days before you arrive in Antigua, counting your arrival date as day 7. If you have no symptoms on arrival in Antigua, there will be no need to be tested again at the airport, nor will you have to quarantine. Rapid Antigen tests are not accepted by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.
If you are coming to Hermitage Bay from another hotel, elsewhere on the island or a yacht, we may require evidence of a signed, negative Rapid Antigen test, taken within 2 days prior to your check-in at Hermitage Bay. Local tests may be done at Mount St. John’s Medical Centre or the Medical-Surgical Associates clinic.
These conditions apply whether or not you have had Covid-19 or have previously been vaccinated against it.
Depending on the requirement of the country to which you are travelling, you may have to take a COVID test prior to departing from Antigua. At present the USA and UK accept a negative result from a Rapid Antigen test whilst Canada requires a RT-PCR.
It couldn’t be easier at Hermitage Bay - a medical professional will come to the hotel to administer a Rapid Antigen test, at a cost of $124 USD per person, or a RT-PCR test, at a cost of $250 USD per person. The turnaround time for the rapid result is 45 minutes. For the RT-PCR test, you will need to present the bio page of your passport and travel itinerary along with a completed copy of this form. The usual turnaround time is 24-48 hours.
Guests are asked to provide flight details and their test preference as soon as possible so that we can book an appointment on your behalf at the appropriate time.
CANCELLATION DUE TO INABILITY TO TRAVEL FROM YOUR HOME COUNTRY
If you cannot leave your home country, due to either a government lockdown or a positive COVID-19 test, and you have to cancel your stay within the penalty period, you will have the option of moving your reservation to a later date. Your deposit will be transferred as a credit towards the new booking. Please note that if requesting a refund, proof of government travel restrictions or a positive COVID-19 test must be provided along with your request.
ISLAND-WIDE COVID PROTOCOLS
There is currently an island-wide curfew in Antigua, starting at 11 PM. Local restaurants are offering take-away dinner orders only. Guests may leave the hotel for excursions, and to explore the island, with printed proof of their negative COVID-19 RT-PCR arrival test.
Social distancing and masks are required in all public indoor and outdoor spaces, including taxis, shops and when arriving at and leaving restaurants. Masks may be taken off when seated.
HOTEL COVID PROTOCOLS
In accordance with government regulations, masks must be worn on the property, including in the gardens, lobby, golf carts, boutique, bar and restaurant. Once seated, masks may be removed. Masks are not required on the beach.
Guests are required to make an appointment for the Fitness Centre; only 2 people at any given time are allowed to use the facilities.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the government of Antigua and Barbuda has placed restrictions on some spa services. Facial treatments are not currently available. Guests must wear masks when receiving a manicure or pedicure treatment, and masks should also be worn during massages when positioned on their backs.
TESTING POSITIVE ON ISLAND
If you test positive for COVID-19 during your stay with us, including pre-departure, you will be asked to self-isolate in your suite and we will be guided by the Antiguan Government’s health authorities’ advice. If your symptoms remain mild, you will most probably remain at the hotel but, if they worsen, you may be moved to a medical facility or an isolation unit.
We urge all guests to take out COVAC Global membership (see below), in case of a positive (or false-positive) test during your stay or pre-departure.
COVAC GLOBAL MEMBERSHIP SCHEME FOR IMMEDIATE REPATRIATION
We are excited to announce that Hermitage Bay has now partnered with COVAC Global to provide immediate repatriation in the event of a positive Covid test, completely negating the possibility of having to self-isolate for a minimum of 14 days away from home or receive medical care abroad.
The COVAC Global product is unique in that it covers any guest who happens to test positive during their stay, including at pre-departure, for immediate repatriation to their home address or a medical facility near their home, by air ambulance, staffed by a medical professional and cleared to fly COVID-positive guests.
This is completely different to other packages on offer at present, as even the most comprehensive of current Covid insurance schemes would only cover medical expenses abroad and include emergency repatriation solely in cases of very serious illness.
